Koshiyama Shiki, a new enrollee at Buzou High School, is a bookworm and quite the introverted type. He even eats lunch in the school library. But at the ceremony to welcome new students, he found himself volunteered to participate in an impromptu quiz meet by the quiz bowl circle`s leader, Sasajima Gakuto. Shiki knows the answers to all the questions, but it unable to buzz in quickly enough... until he notices a change in his classmate, Fukami Mari, who starts buzzing in to answer questions before they`ve even been read! Having discovered Shiki`s wealth of knowledge and quick thinking, Mari tries to get him to join the quiz bowl circle. Shiki is hesitant, but lets Mari talk him into accompanying her to Sekigawata High School to observe a quiz meet.
