Alice Cooper - Road (Live at Hellfest 2022)

Live at Val de Moine,Clisson,France 24.6.2022. The setlist features hits from the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and early ‘90’s, all performed by the current band line-up. The filming is quite good and the BD features PCM stereo and 5.1 mixes as audio choices. Expect all the usual live show theatrics (including the guillotine) and great showmanship not only from Cooper himself, but the rest of the band. You would expect an artist at this stage of his career to be on the decline, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Of course, the “band” is a joy to watch as well, especially Glen Sobel (drums) and Nita Strauss (guitar) – two virtuosos on their respective instruments. They add so many subtle intricacies into the music without overstepping Cooper’s vocals. But when the time is theirs in the spotlight, they shred/jam with authority and conviction – absolute professionalism at the highest level in rock music.

Archive had left us without news for some time, but the London collective returned in 2022 with an album that was a cry from the heart, Call to Arms & Angels, suffocated by an accumulation of alarming events (Brexit, Covid-19, lockdowns, etc.). The band, skilled at blending genres (trip-hop, alternative rock, electro, etc.), transformed this melancholy into lyrical despair and vigorous protest. During their French tour, which ended on November 24, 2023, at the Accor Arena in Paris, Archive, renowned for their spectacular shows, treated themselves to a warm-up tour in Passengers, in the heart of the industrial hall of the Grandes Serres de Pantin. Recorded on October 6, 2023, at the Grandes Serres de Pantin, in Seine-Saint-Denis.

The goal was to lift each other's spirits during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. There were over a dozen genres represented including acrobatics, live music, magic, dance, and even a wedding. Dozens of unscripted live interviews were recorded and the event proved a huge success. The film captures the rawness of what it was like living during this unprecedented time.

Elbow and the BBC Concert Orchestra: The Seldom Seen Kid - Live at Abbey Road

On Saturday 17th January 2009 at the world famous Abbey Road studios in London, Elbow performed the entirety of their Mercury Music Prize winning album The Seldom Seen Kid with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Chantage, the winners of Radio 3's Choir Of The Year competition. The band played new and exclusive versions of the songs from the album in order and were joined by Richard Hawley for The Fix. The Seldom Seen Kid is a welcome return from the band, driven by a thunderous riff that reminds listeners of Elbow's love of the heavy as well as the delicate.
