A fateful sea trip from Egypt to Rome forces Randus in captivity by mercenary troops, and leads a revolt by which he gets freedom for himself, and all the other slaves. Through an amulet he received from his late mother, a man who had fought by Spartacus' side, identifies the young man as Spartacus' and Varinia's son. At first reluctant to accept this story about his origins, Randus will be forced by the circumstances to repeat the feat of his father, twenty years later.

In 1905, Félix Mesguich, a young camera operator of the Lumière Brothers, films in the Blumlisalp Glacier, Switzerland, one of the first mountaineering films. A report of the recovery of the bodies of three mountaineers who fell into a crevasse. The film captures the shocking moment in which one of the dead mountaineers opens his eyes when he is hoisted from the edge of the crack. Although the film follows the true rescue expedition, it shows some scenes prepared by the camera. The film caused a big sensation when premiered in the Moulin Rouge in Paris.
