Austria and the Alps is the title of a 18 minutes travelogue by Burton Holmes produced to be distributed by the Paramount. The travelogue consisted of several segments showing different picturesque aspects of Austria. In this segment, amateur and professional mountain climbers climb the Zugspitze (2.962 meters), the highest mountain in Germany, at the Austrian border. Other segments of the film were 'Up to date alpinism' (showing the cable car up to Rax Alp, near Vienna), or 'Picturesque Salzburg' (showing a collection of city scenes).

At the heart of the eastern Alps, in the Niedere Tauern massif that rises in the Austrian state of Salzburg, soldiers undertake the tortuous ascent of the Radstädter Tauern, a high mountainous pass situated at an altitude of 1738 metres. Facing the ice and the steep slopes, the courageous roped party of climbers finally reach the frozen Johannesfall waterfall.

"The ascent of Mount Washington is part of the Edison's 'Conquest Pictures' series. This series were a series of films released since 1917 by the Edison company in an effort to diminish expenditures during World War I, when the company lost the European Markets. They were made also, in response to many influential groups, which called for heightened moral purity and cleanliness. These programs were meant to provide 'cleaner and more wholesome films, which could be exhibited with safety before any member of the family.' The results proved disappointing."
"A pioneering Norweigan climbing film. The filming was made in 1918 by film photographer Gunnar Nilsen Vik. The film begins with some pictures of Ola Berge and the wife. Berge was the one who built the tourist hotel in Turtagrø in 1888 and quickly became the most important meeting place for mountain climbers in Norway."

In Isère, in the mountainous region of Trièves, is the Tournesol farm, an experiential farm totally autonomous in energy, a veritable laboratory for renewable energies. Jean-Philippe and his family live there from sheep farming and organic market gardening. But in September 2017, a violent fire destroyed the farm and its facilities. While the family has lost everything, a surge of solidarity is taking place so that the Tournesol farm is reborn from its ashes.

The pictorial image and the dark and dreamlike atmosphere transforms the space into something unreal, imprecise, converting it also in a spectral presence.
A mountaineering tour on a glacier in the Alps. The film follows a group of mountaineers as they leave the hostel. Then they climb up fixed ladders in snowy escarpments and reach the top of the glacier. The mountaineers, secured with ice axes and rope, progress through the ice and cross several hazardous crevassea. The group finally descend by the rocky cliffs.
For over a hundred years, Turtagrø in Sogn has been a mountain climbing center in Jotunheimen. The film photographer Gunnar Nilsen-Vig was there in the summer of 1918 with his film camera.
