Overview

Two dandelion balls are the only survivors of a series of nuclear explosions that are destroying the Earth. At the end of their odyssey, they will find a new soil for the survival of their species.

She intended to make a short science fiction film and not to focus on the occasionally grim reality of today's South Africa. With the help of local film makers, she set off in Durban looking for suitable locations and four actors who wanted to work on her film (preferably for free). With the locations, she also found her story. She used the futuristic architecture of the football stadium being built - designed by the German bureau GMP Architects - not only as background for her film No Woman Born, but she also turned the anonymous labourers into characters in her film. Tan discovered the talents of the Zulu actor and singer Muzi Mhlanga, who developed during the shooting into a very special man of the future.

A loon, who tells the boy that his mother blinded him, helps the child regain his eyesight. Then the boy seeks revenge, releasing his mother’s lifeline as she harpoons a whale and watching her drown. Based on a portion of the epic Inuit legend “The Blind Boy and the Loon.”

Two women, each named Helen, live out their mirrored lives in the town of Troy, NY. The first Helen is in her 60s, is married, and takes care of a small, extremely lifelike baby doll, which she treats as a living baby. The second Helen is in her 30s, has a successful art career and is four months pregnant. One night, something falls from the sky and explodes over the town. In the aftermath of this event, bizarre and unexplainable things begin to happen.
